Lunch at Lynn’s Paradise Cafe, Louisville, Kentucky

Lynn’s Paradise Cafe is one of Louisville’s well known restaurants. I saw a Throw Down with Bobby Flay on the Food Network and they talked about the famous Hot Brown sandwich, which is a tradition of the city. My kids and I made it a point to visit and have a Hot Brown.
Lynn Winter opened the place in 1991. She is reported to be as lively and colorful as her restaurant. Paradise Cafe claims to offer the tastiest “down home” cooking, the wackiest decor, and genuine southern hospitality. I would agree. We had a great time.
The service was great and the Hot Brown was — interesting. Here it is:
It’s served in a bowl which includes bread, turkey, bacon, tomato, cheese and a sauce. Very tasty and VERY filling. I had a side of fried green tomatoes and sweet tea, which was the best Southern sweet tea I have ever tasted.
Here’s some shots near where we sat.
Tea anyone???
You can get a sense as to why Lynn’s place was voted as one of four of the most fun eateries in the nation. But bring your credit card/cash. The meal came to almost $65 — plus the tip. All in all, it was worth it. I would definitely recommend eating here if you are in Louisville.
The kids were slightly more plump after leaving, and so was I, but I know better than to be photographed after eating a big lunch.
Tomorrow is the University of Louisville’s graduation. I hope Beth fits into that cap and gown ….

That restaurant looks like a lot of fun. The Hot Brown looks odd. Did you make it to The Seelbach for cocktails?
