We will very soon be paying off our credit card debt and it sickens me to think of how I could have invested all of that interest we've paid. There's so much more information for young people about finances now than there was when I was 20. Good luck on coaching your kids through this! This makes the new kitchen seem very frivolous (which it is). Still, we will enjoy it. My car will celebrate its 11 birthday next month, so I figure I have saved for a kitchen a couple of times, by not getting a new car every 2-3 years! :) It all comes out in the wash, eventually.
