Awesome, Matt! Wow, you have a mountain climber in the making. I hiked it with my daughter at Christmas two years ago ... she is 26! The Sertoma Club had decorated a tree at the summit. Any decorations this year?

Another fun hike is Shawbutte ... there is a Christmas cactus Santa on it. I'll have to do an update post on that as I hiked it last weekend ... it has become a Christmas tradition here in the valley :)

Thanks for the comment. Happy New Year

Climbed it today with my 5 year old son on his birthday. His first time to the top.

It is quite a hike but a must do in Phoenix I think. Great views at the top.

i climbed this mountain twice within three months and it is one of thee hardest things that i have ever done. the thing that made it the hardest was the heat. it was about 113 degrees when me and my brother made the climb. it was a good workout though

Nathan -- Camelback made me realize how much I have lost! I hiked Longs Peak in 1977. Went the Keyhole route. It was a challenging hike. I don't know if I will do much hiking this summer with the heat. If I do, I will be starting EARLY! And I will be posting about it.

I tried this hike just the other day. Although it is considered a difficult hike, I think it hardly compares with much more difficult hikes such as Longs Peak, RMNP, Colorado. Nonetheless, a difficult hike with some really great views of the Phoenix area. I recommend it if in the area. Start early. 95% shade going up...95% sun coming down.
