Lakewood Church: Music for Worship
The worship music at Lakewood Church is hard to explain. Here are two of my favorites by Cindy Cruse Ratcliff and Israel Houghton, Your Love and Everywhere That I go. You just have to hear it. I really haven’t been able to really explain this but know that up until a couple of years ago, I literally could not and would not listen to christian music. I had a complete aversion to it! Today, I particularly find worship music really different in a good way. It was all part of the changes that have been taking place spiritually for me over the last couple of years. They are spirit led, for that I am sure. As a matter of fact, I think I’ll add attending a service at Lakewood to hear it and see it myself to my bucket list.

Seriously, Phil, if you ever want to come see a Lakewood service in person, you are certainly welcome to stay in our home.
I was like you, and never listened to Christian music, except by accident, and I also didn’t give God any true chance in my life. Sure, I “celebrated” Christmas…. gifts and food, big meaning there! But, since the change into a new century, my life has also changed. I sincerely pleaded for God to help me when I was very scared, and that was all it took!
Christian music helped me through the awful hollowness of the 2 weeks while my mom was dying. A certain new song, recorded by a local artist, would particularly hit home with me, bolstering my spirit and “uncannily” coming on the radio most times I was driving either to or from the hospital/hospice. I was fortunate enough to attend a concert by this artist, afterwards, and I got to tell him of the special help his song was to me during my time of loss. This also bolstered his spirit, giving back to him.
I still love my smoooooth jazz, disco and non-acid rock… but, now I also have Christian favorites that give me much more in their message.

I have been to Lakewood for Joyce Meyer meetings. I think I went to 2 at their old location, and I know I have been to 2 at the new Lakewood location, the former Summit/”Compaq Center”, a place where I first attended a Moody Blues concert in 1978 and many a Rockets basketball game!
I have not gone for a regular church service at Lakewood, we just buzz over to our local church. But, if you made it into town, we would definitely make a day of it!
