How you ever heard about living without regrets? Have you met anyone that has said they have no regrets? I always wonder about that. They have NO regrets? None? Have they lived a perfect life? Here’s a test for you. I received this in one of those annoying emails you get forwarded. Most of the time I just delete, but this one is worth consideration. (If you know who might have written this, let me know.)

Answer as completely as possible. No cheating, like asking the one sitting next to you.

  • Name the five wealthiest people in the world?
  • Name the last five Heisman trophy winners?
  • Name the last five winners of the Miss America Contest?
  • Name ten people who have won the Nobel or Pulitzer Prize?
  • Name the last six Academy Award winners for Best Actor/Best Actress?
  • Name the last decade of World Series Winners/Super Bowl Champions?

How are you doing? Next questions.

Next questions:

  • List a few teachers who aided your journey through school?
  • Name three friends who have helped you through difficult times?
  • Name five people who have taught you something worthwhile?
  • Think of a few people who have made you feel appreciated, special or made you laugh?
  • Think of five people you enjoy spending time with?
  • Name a half a dozen heroes whose stories have inspired you?

Get the picture? Wealth, fame, beauty, intelligence, the standards the world tells us where we can find meaning are a lie. Worldly applause ends quickly. Awards tarnish. Achievements are forgotten. One’s accolades and title are buried on the final day.

The difference makers in our lives are truly found in those on the second list. Don’t believe the lie. Life is about the times and events found with those on the second list.

Last questions. Who are you spending Christmas with? What are you spending your time doing? Pay attention to that; the truth is found there.
