I recently ordered The Flip Video Camcorder. Video blogging is kind of a developing niche and is projected to grow huge. Video offers the ability to gain market exposure to unprecedented levels. For example, the Bionic Burger video has been viewed almost one million times! To get that kind of exposure for your product or blog would have cost a tremendous dollar amount using traditional approaches.

Here was the problem. I am not tech savvy. I was looking for information how people were creating these videos and learning how they were using them successfully in their marketing. It just seemed well beyond my abilities/capabilities. And then I found this recorder called the FLIP Video Camcorder.

The proverbial light bulb moment happened. This thing looked easy! It was easy. The best part was the very positive reviews on the product. What finally sold me was a YouTube video with Glen Beck and his crew talking about how awesome the Flip was.

I ordered one. I found the best deal through Amazon with free shipping included. There are a number of different models and various colors. I chose the 30 minute Ultra model. ( I believe the 60 minute option to be more than I will need.) The Ultra is the way to go because it has the technology improvements from the earlier models and the popular tripod mount. Total cost which included shipping was only $125. Current Amazon pricing is now only $120!

This recorder is perfect for a novice like me. More impressive are the reviews from those with experience with higher end camcorders. They very positive. Jerry’s summary at Amazon ended with this conclusion, “I am obviously impressed by the Flip Video Ultra. It has not only a very high cool factor, but a very high utility factor as well.”

Today is the day I give it a go! I am going to hike Camelback Mountain here in Phoenix. I’ll make my first video about the hike. We’ll see how the Flip does and more importantly, how one with NO technical ability fairs.

Camelback Mountain is Phoenix’s most famous landmark. It should be fun.
