The FLIP VIDEO CAMCORDER
(Part 2 of My Hike of Camelback Mountain)
Finding the Flip Video Camcorder has been an answer for me, a technically challenged blogger. In reading about the Flip video camcorder, writers were raving about its digital quality, price, and ease of use. I immediately thought this new little gadget would be perfect for developing the video options for the blog. After my first climb of Camelback Mountain and my making of my first ever youtube video, I can report the Flip camcorder is awesome.
I have a lot to learn regarding video but this will be a good example of just doing it! Being a perfectionist, I wish I could have produced better quality example. I see that I will need to be aware of a more steady hand ha, hahaa. To be honest, I was so fatigued at a couple of points, what you see WAS my most steady hand!! At another point (I edited this out), I actually had the Flip recording as I was returning it back in the little carrying bag! That was about forty seconds of darkness and muffled voices.
Another thing I felt as I was using it was kind of an uneasy feeling about how I would sound on the video, saying something stupid etc. Another self concern was how I would appear as if I was talking to myself as I videoed! (I should be used to this, yes?) The trail had hundreds of people on it. It was hard to find privacy to make the film. That obviously was not going to happen.
What I did learn was that knowing I would be able to share this experience made the hike more fun. I wish I would have interviewed some of the hikers….this is what I think I will be a great way to use the Flip in the future. Everyone has a story and I think video will be awesome to use in sharing personal achievement stories. Watch for this to develop here.
So here is Part 1 of my hike of Camelback. It’s rated R for Respect and the heavy breathing! I have a new respect for this hike : ) I will let the video tell the story.
This is the Flip Ultra. If you get one, spend the $20 extra to be sure you get this edition. And the THIRTY minute is sufficient for most uses with this camcorder! Check it out here:

Great video ! I hadn’t realized the third installment of the “Blair Witch Project” had been released.
I’m looking at these Flip recorders too. My ancient VHS analog tape recorded has died and I need a replacement.

Cigarman — this flip recorder is great. If you are looking to do like soccer games, there are better options. But if you wanted to add video to your blog, family things where the Flip is stationary, it would be perfect…nothing compares.
Susan — It would be great for family things and it is so easy!Old??? Whatever!
