I celebrated Easter today at Jobing.com Arena with the Vineyard Church of North Phoenix. There was a poignant presentation on the events of the last day Jesus was alive. Easter is often the only time so many take an hour or so and consider the meaning of His message.

It’s in the Message that I am finding some of the answers to life’s questions not found in the things I and others have tended to look toward.

The significance of Easter is in the resurrection. The crucifixion tends to be the focus of most messages relative to Christianity. And while that is most humbling and numbing if you can see or feel what that had to be like (and the service today did that so clearly), the message or good news is found in the resurrection.

I am trying to remember where I read that the first century Church was focused not on the crucifixion, but on the resurrection. Believers did not wear crosses as symbols of their faith (not that there is anything wrong with that). The first century believer was encouraged and found joy in knowing life in Christ was a victorious one. They served the Risen Savior.

Friday was horrific for this man Jesus. But Sunday was coming.

He is risen. Herein we can find significance for our lives today in what really matters most. Think about it …. before next Easter.
